the loss of technology and widespread holdings have created a backslide iin large part to modernized ancient weaponry. While firearms are still around, including a line of bolt action sniper rifles using hand made large caliber rounds that come from a monastery in the south, along the tibet platau, the majority of combat comes from spears. broad beaten steel heads on thick poles made of hollowed wood, the average infantry man carries two. the bottom hollow handle are fittied with rolled paper style rocket engines, able to be activated in a single motion as the spear is readied for flight and thrown. The thrust and timing cause the spears to accelerate dramatically on the way down, punching through flack jackets and basic armor, as well as increasing the distance they can be thrown from. the spear head can be removed and replaced with fireworks charges in a minute flat, the rocket taking them a good 200 meters up to be used as signal flares.
Those trained in their use also have another staff, one with a flat metal end. To deal with a world in which pieces of high powered armor still exist, the "God's Breath" spears are fitting inside with a copper cone packed with higher yeild explosives. This shaped charge is activated by hand of the attacker, or can be set to go off on contact with the tip, creating the standard shaped explosive jet of molten metal at high speed, punching through a few inches of steel. These spears CAN be, but are seldom thrown, and are easily identified by being made of shafts of machined aluminum alloy instead of wood. (note for first week, ALL "merchant" spies are trained in and equipped with such spears. )
Initial charges are often led by a cloud of spears thrown and rocketed into the enemy, charging warrioars following quickly behind to close hand to hand combat. One or two troops with firearms stay back, firing on targets of of opportunity.
Hand explosives are also common, made from fired ceramic filled with gunpowder. often fused, some specially trained troops may have timer triggers and trap making abilities with them.
swords are uncommon, but occasionly weilded by chosen and twice chosen.
