Or if you do, an even harder chance of being able to crack the encryption without Jane-level software capabilities

You don't know what ore, but you saw dozens of soldiers, as well as drones in the air, and a couple helicopters. This was more than your scouts wanted to try to infiltrate so they backed out and returned with this intel for more instructions.

You did see that the soldiers mostly stayed near the settlement and they used drones for patrols.
