If you find anyone else, thats good for me. We have our soldiers moving over from the east, building up a staging area to make some actual assaults into the mountains, people montioring radio frequencies to try and find out what frequencies the drones are on, both to see them coming and to drop them out of the sky, working on manufacturing hte devices to do so, misleading one ally/enemy, and waiting for moves from the other in case they need a crushing. Sounds like a busy week to me. Is it a new week in game yet?

Minerva's biggest problem is that the vast bulk of their population are scientists and academics unfit for fighting--the kind that will urge for surrender or negotiation. The head of their defense, Sebastian Grey, is a current member of the US military, so we can expect to see overlapping field of fire, minefields in varying degrees of nastiness, drone surveillance, hardened automatic turrets, mortars, booby traps, pitfalls, and if he has a really nasty turn of mind caltrops and punji sticks. Poison gas and flamethrowers are also a strong possibility, which is why I'd like to let the other factions test his defenses first. The problem is, once the shell is breached, Minerva will quickly fall. A fortress is only as good as it's defenders. Since you are in time zone +11, you have a chance of being from an area that can get really cold, so you'd know how bad that can be for the unprepared. (if you aren't from a cold land, the answer is: Very, VERY, bad.) I see that the admin says we have about three weeks more than I thought, so that's good. If the game time (not our time) runs into spring, and we're still in the game, you can tell the farmers to follow any plan you like--I'll leave that up to you. We have armed thugs to ah, convince them to obey you.

Well, then, let's task some HAWS to collect on the Rushkies. The GPS anti-rad patches are completely brilliant, by the way; I would have never thought of that. The only issue with the Turkmen guards I can see is that simply having diverse security teams wouldn't work; the reason they worked in Iraq & co is because nobody was from the region they were patrolling, but still all considered themselves roughly citizens of the same country. It made it so that nobody would be playing favorites for their tribe, family, etc... or could be accused of doing the same. Because the Turkmen have more ties among themselves than they do with us, we couldn't rely on them being any more honest than an invading army would, even though the army is pulled from multiple states within one country. Might as well just go with tribal squads, but have some sort of chip to hang over the heads of the leaders of those tribes. And I'm not going to dismiss the possibility that I'm a mastermind, but why may I be one, exactly? I've just been playing this s*** by ear. And... the outcome of this will have some sort of effect on the comic?

Ok, for now, you've just rounded the northern tip of the Caspian Sea. Draw out a route if you can. I tell you this because there will be things in between here and there, Minerva's not going to just let you come all the way to the front door unchallenged. So make sure you tell me your plans in case you run in to opposition.

Sorry. From Astrokhan around the north end of the Caspian Sea across southern Kazakhstan (possibly dipping into northern Uzbekistan depending on what the spies determine to be the best route). The not-yet-established forward base will be as close to Minerva as our trucks can get without having to completely build a road. If that turns out to be Minerva's front gate, then ten to fifteen miles short of that. Most likely somewhere in Kyrgyzstan--hopefully at least as far as Lake Issyk-Kul.
We try to complete the compounds closest to the Turkmen first, so the supply lines get shorter with time, not longer.

To the Reverend Mother and our Brothers, greetings. We don't use biofuels since we have petroleum, but the diesel we produce is very similar.
We are preparing everything you wished for (except for the diesel oil instead of biofuel), and they will be ready for you upon your return. Please bring the horses, and all the falcons and camels you can spare. As for the treasures from the Southern Wastes, more printed materials would be appreciated, especially "How-to" books and manuals, communications tech, and weapons. We have heard rumors of a very powerful weapon called a "skuud" or "skuut" and would like some of them if you can find them.
We also propose to set up caravansaris along the roads between our nations. We will put walls around them so that the caravans may protect themselves from storms and marauders.
We look forward to a profitable trading partnership with you.

We don't need biofuel, maybe you have misunderstand us ? We do need diesel for vehicles.
We are gathering the horses, camels and falcons. Books we're also gathering some and we are copying the others (so we may trade them to other people too). We will try to seek for those Skuud you want, but it'll take more time as we gathered our men for war. A lot of people are preparing for war, so it'll take time to send people to the South Desert.
If you're proposing, then why not ?
Thank you, and may the Desert sands be tender to you !

Nov 26, 2014 at 3:24pm QuoteMessage Options According to the main planning page, our technology levels are about the same, as is the manufacturing base. We could build our own tractor and truck parts, but there isn't enough demand for some parts to justify building a factory for them, so they are produced by hand by craftsmen. I was hoping you had a supply in stockpiles. If you are making your own machines, however, it would be better for us to buy those.
We have a complete petrochemical industry, and while we disdain plastics for the most part, we do produce rubber. We also produce our own tires, and with a three-day warm-up to get all parts of the factory working at top efficiency we can produce 400 tires per day (two shifts). We had a fairly large stockpile of raw synthetic rubber, and are producing more right now. We started increasing production as of the turn post on Friday, so we have a stockpile of 1100 truck tires right now (Our people talked to your people and got the specifications you use--there was a considerable amount of overlap since we both use Russian designed vehicles). How many do you want?
Mining is also being increased, but it will be about two weeks before we see a significant amount of metal--can you refine ore yourselves?
We are producing standard 208 liter oil drums. We refine basically #1 diesel. Would you prefer that, or crude oil this time? We also produce lubricating oils and grease for ourselves. We package such things in 19 liter cans for ease of transport.
The cotton harvest is being processed right now and the Caliph's tithe (around 700 bales) should be available soon.
We produce our own version of the ancient AK-47, and while the AK-74 is tempting, we don't want to mix cartridges. Perhaps 30 or so for our officers might be acceptable. We also produce NSV heavy machine guns since so many designers and workers came to us from the factory in Kazakhstan when it fell into chaos.
What we need most right now is furs, trucks, tractors, concentrated food and honey. Also another twenty crossbows and 500 more arrows.
We could also use cement and fiberboard.
We will take everything you brought.
The reinforcing rods are called "reinforcing bars" in the US--or "rebar" for short.

Nov 26, 2014 at 7:27pm QuoteMessage Options All goods we have to offer tight now will amount to 121'700 workds.
We will take all the raw cotton you have - 240kg*36=8640 workds All led you have available 100kg*150=15000 40 truck tires - 40*2000=80000 6 barrels of oil lube - 114lt*150=17100
In total 120740.
It takes from one to two weeks for our ships to make the trip. We are dredging the river so it should be one week unless the weather will be particulary bad. Amberlight Global Moderator *****

Those can be used by your special forces foe silent diversions or as a replacement for flare guns. deltav Faction 5

Nov 27, 2014 at 10:27pm QuoteMessage Options I posted a reply yesterday, but I don't see it here. To restate the main points:
We have a good manufacturing base, and have been turning out our own AK-47s. The AK-74s you offer are superior, but we don't want to take the risk of getting the cartridges mixed. We could use some 74s for our officers, however. When Kazakhstan fell into chaos, many of the designers and workers from the factory making NSV heavy machine guns fled to us, so we make them, too.
Our tire factory can make 200 tires per day, and we've been running double shifts since Monday. Our petrochemical industry has been turning out synthetic rubber for the tires, if you need raw rubber for other things, it is available.
Our mines have also stepped up production, but it will take two weeks for the refined metal to reach port. If you can do your own refining, we will trade you the raw ore right now at 5% the price of ingots.
We are producing 208 liter oil drums for shipment, and have 19 liter sealed buckets of various grades of lubricating oil and grease.
The cotton crop has been harvested, and is being processed.
We need many, many furs. We also need trucks, tractors, cement, fiberboard, concentrated food, and honey. We'd also like 20 hunting crossbows, and 500 arrows.
Reinforcing rod is called "rebar" short form for "reinforcing bar" in the US. deltav Faction 5

Nov 27, 2014 at 11:45pm QuoteMessage Options We have received your message and think about it. Our steel industry is working at the limit, and to process additional ore can not. We need metals: iron, steel, cast iron, lead, copper, zinc, brass and bronze. Rare earth metals: tungsten, platinum, silver, chromium, beryllium. Requested weapons we are ready to sell. But you need to determine the number of bolts for crossbows by type, with the number of purchased magazines and cartridges to AK-74. According to the vehicles you need to wait Amberlight, I can not do it with the translation of our offer. Our industry is designed for use lubrication of agricultural production, but we are interested in switching to mineral oil. We will increase purchases of machine oil. Total consumption of lubricant of our faction of about one million liters per year. Perhaps we will buy a small batch of diesel fuel or oil for our research and chemical industries. For example, a pair of standard barrels of both. Our needs in all types of tires in the near future will not exceed 30 units of all types in the week. Clarify the desired weight of furs, fiberboard, concentrated food, honey in a week? We have gold production, production of radio stations MW band, field telephones, electrical apparatus and gas welding and metal cutting, gas llamas with built-in small-sized wood-gas generator. Can you sell it.

Nov 29, 2014 at 5:37pm QuoteMessage Options I really hate to have to keep apologizing, but I had this very long, detailed post nearly finished when it suddenly disappeared, all but the last four words. This laptop hates me.
The short form of the lost post is this: By the time your ships return, we should have at least some of the refined metals ready for trade. I'm basing my estimates on current production less about 80% to allow for areas where the ore has all been dug up.
The crossbow bolt order is as rat guessed--I was unclear.
We could make our own cold-weather gear from the furs, or if we could get gloves we could make the coats and trousers (pants) out of quilted cotton fabric, stuffed with raw cotton like the Chinese do. I'm guessing that a fur pelt would make two pair of fur-lined gloves, so 3,000 furs?

We also created a currency for our trade. Workd is a representation of how much work (work days) was spent on an item and thus it's value to us. So it is a fair way to assign value to items. Sometime I may use "trudd" - a transliteration from Russian, don't get confused. Our ships currently have on board (price per one item): 2 Power saws with portable gas generator - 13750 workds 6 gas lamps - 1100 workds 6 pumps - 5500 workds About 200 kg of different tools - 10 workd per kilo. 5 hunting rifles - 2750 worlds 100 cartridges with blackpowder with steel shots - 2 workds 5 hunting crossbows - 1100 workds 50 simple arrows - 1 workd 2 decorated arrows that look really fancy, more of a decorative piece - 50 workds 5 tons of wood - 1 workd per 1 kilo 5 tons of charcoal - 5 workd per kilo Jams, honey, furs - no exact price yet. 3000 workds for the whole sample shipment of exotic food and furs. Our buying prices: 1 kg of led - 150 workds 1 kg of iron - 100 workds 1 kg of raw kotton - 36 workds 1 kg of rubber - 25 workds Truck tire - 2000 workds Prices for oil and some other things coming soon. So, you have 240 kg of cotton and 100 kg of led, that would make 240*36+100*150=23640 workds. Please tell me what would you like to trade. deltav Faction 5 deltav Avatar Posts: 23Male Member is Online Nov 25, 2014 at 5:41pm QuoteMessage Options Wow, how many workds did all this computation cost you? We only have one ingot of lead available, but I said "some bales of cotton"--we have three of those. We also have access to all the other items we offered. The Caliph owns all mining, metal manufacturing, and oil production. Other manufacturing, agriculture, and fisheries are owned privately, subject to the blessing of the Caliph, and pay a tithe (10%) of their production to him. Do you want the other two bales of cotton? "workd" or "trudd"--no problem. We are also in need of oil-based lubricants - we will offer a higher price for the refined lubes than for the raw oil, but the oil itself will be good as well.

Nov 16, 2014 at 1:21pm QuoteMessage Options Most of our oil production was from offshore platforms which no longer work. Further, while we have pipelines to deliver fuel oil and diesel for our own needs, we lack any way to export them or the crude oil either.

Nov 19, 2014 at 4:37pm QuoteMessage Options To our northern neighbors, greetings.
We would be honored if you would establish a trade embassy in Sumqayit. We can easily find a building that will suit your needs, and you've already seen the city.
Most of our tractors are DT-75s from the plant at Volgograd, and the trucks are mostly various models made by Kamaz. We are intrigued, however, by your offer of machinery that runs on wood gas. Does the machinery produce it's own gas from wood, or is it a separate operation? And can we obtain the power plants to replace the diesel engines we use?
The berries in honey offer sounds interesting, and certain members of the Caliph's household somehow learned of the furs, and wish to see them. We have both hardwood and softwood forests of our own, but if you could spare some technicians to help keep the wood-gas engines working, that would be good.
We have a 100 kilogram lead ingot and some 240 kilogram bales of cotton currently available. What goods did you bring?
We are starting to produce barrels for export, but if you could bring some of your own, it would increase what can be transported. Did you want crude or diesel oil?
First Councillor to the Caliph.

Nov 20, 2014 at 6:56am QuoteMessage Options Hail the proud sons of the mountains! And the glorious First Councillor to the Caliph! Have your tractors have to replace the engine and fuel system for use on wood. Engine weight and wood gasifier for him in case of tractor 440 kg. This 440 kg machined with high accuracy good steel. To manufacture such an engine needs to 1000 kg of iron. And a month of work teams of specialists with sophisticated equipment. Wood-fired gas generator in case of large machines placed instead of their fuel systems. The disadvantage of this solution is the small amount of fuel on the machine usually for an hour operation. But if there is a stock of firewood or timber and an ax in the cockpit is not a critical flaw. Install gas-generating units instead of diesel engines possible. We have a wide range of metalworking products, but mostly it's utensils, hand tools, hunting crossbows and guns with black powder cartridges. For you may be interested in hand power saw 4 horsepower knapsack with wood-gas generator, and various pumps. For the production of parts for KAMAZ vehicles, we need to copy the samples, we have not used this technique. We are interested in the crude oil, rubber, tires, lead and rare earth metal, typically iron and steel, iron, tungsten. Skipper Marine Expeditions NRF on behalf of of the Military Collegium. Nov 21, 2014 at 12:48am QuoteMessage Options Ahem, allow me to translate the part about engines more clearly, Skipper. We can replace the engines of your tractors to your wood gas engines. For a tractor an engine and gas generator would weight about 440kg. The production of such an engine is a complicated process, it requires 1000kg of good iron and a month of work of a skilled team with proper tools.
In case of larger machines such as tractors and trucks the gas generator is placed next to the engine so it can produce fuel out of wood. The main disadvantage of a wood gas engine is that a vehicle with it will be able to operate only for an hour or so without refueling. However, if there is a supply of firewood - when your tractors work toe fields near the settlements, for example, or if you dedicate some space in your trucks to the firewood - that won't be much of a problem since gas generators can produce gas on the go without interrupting the machine's operation. Besides being a cheap alternative to disel for domestic works it would also perform nicely in long expeditions since then you'd be able to obtain fuel by simply chopping down trees along the way. We are also planing to create more energy-efficient fuel for gas generators so you won't have to carry as much of firewood with you. But this is still work in progress, so we can't promise anything yet. Amberlight Global Moderator *****
