Based on discussion in this thread, here is the official description of this invading faction.
![]() Name: No official name. Referred to generically as Turkmen. Brief Description: The term "Turkmen" refers to a disparate collection of tribes and clans that inhabit the area. There is no single leader or centralized government, just a collection of families that all fit a similar description. These people are the ultimate nomads, always on the move. Between a combination of radiation from the nuclear war and supposed post-war genetic experimentation, the Turkmen no longer seem quite human. They are more resistant to radiation, and are able to travel occasionally down into the radioactive territories of the Middle East to search the ruins for ancient technology, weaponry and other resources, which they trade with other groups. Trade is their primary economic means of survival. They are also more resistant to heat, starvation and dehydration, allowing them to truly master the desert. Some travel on horse or camel, while others find that their mounts are unable to keep up with them, so they do all the travel and trade on foot. Population: Unknown, as they never gather together to be counted. Estimates number them in the thousands, but likely less than 20,000 remain. Government: No centralized government appears to exist. The Turkmen either form small family groups, or appear to live as solitary nomads. They have been known to come together into larger groups for occasional raids or battles. Technology Level: The Turkmen have access to many ancient technologies from the irradiated south, where whole nations died at once leaving their cities empty. It is also not uncommon to see them with advanced technology stolen from Minerva. Purpose in Invading Minerva: Some want access to the medical resources Minerva has, as the Turkmen suffer from higher rates of cancer and other genetic abnormalities. Others want their weapons and other technology. There is also a bit of a grudge because Minerva has not been very helpful or accepting of the Turkmen, their genetic oddness, or their nomadic lifestyle, often trying to get them to settle down, submit to testing, etc. Military Resources: What the Turkmen lack in numbers they make up with military prowess. They prefer stealth and speed attacks, often attacking in silence, leaving behind survivors who wake up in the morning not knowing they'd been attacked until they see the dead with their throats cut in their tents. The Turkmen have access to advanced weapons and occasionally use them, but seem to prefer fighting hand to hand with knives and swords. What needs to be Planned: Who wants to be part of this faction? What resources can you commit to the invasion? How many Turkmen will come together for this raid? Don't make actual invasion plans here. That will be in a private thread. Mostly, just say you want to be part of this faction and your thoughts on the official description. |

I wanna be part of this faction !
I think the description suit what was said in the pre-planning. You really did a great job there, Dan. And "turkmen" is a good reference to "fremen" ![]() I think they could have some religious need to gather up for invasion, or something like that. What do you think ? |

I think that's certainly a possibility. It's a fine enough detail that I'll let whoever ends up being in that group decide

When it comes to religious, I believe today that area is largely Islamic, but there were some shamanistic roots before hand. I could totally see them feeling like their protection from radiiation and mutations are gifts given by the spirits of their ancestors? In that case, battle just for the veneration of the ancestors would be a good rallying cry. rather than taking over land, I could totally see them mostly just "counting coup" by going in on raids, slaughter some people, steal food and gear, and ride out again, vanishing into the desert sand. Wash rinse repeat, using stolen gear to raid more and better equipped places.

Admin: Hopefully none of the 40+ fake members I just deleted were real. My apologies if you were. Much spam.

mg: Does Minerva have any social media? Something like twitter or facebook? I might have a plot detail for Admin to use. It's based on a true story if you're interested.

Admin: At first I thought you meant our social media accounts XD But yeah, Minerva would have a variety of social medias and stuff

mg: The search area was a forest larger than Rhode Island, filled with traps and minefields. While the Army was busy there, Boko Haram used stolen APCs to attack their defenseless home towns. They manipulated the media.
